Hello! My name is Halie McDonald, and I’m a UX/UI Designer based in Edmonton, AB. I enjoy building things for the web and figuring out how design and code come together to create experiences people actually enjoy using.
In 2024, I made the decision to leave my job as an administrator for a construction company to go back to school and pursue graphic design. During this program, I took a web design fundamentals course and immediately gravitated toward it, which led me to transition fully to web design and development.
Because I’ve spent time on both the design and development side, I like understanding the whole picture. I believe a good design should be intuitive, and built with real people in mind, not just trying to make something that's pretty to look at.
Outside of working on design projects, you will probably find me watching movies (quite a lot of them), listening to classic rock, or planning my next trip. I’ve always enjoyed storytelling in all forms, whether that’s a great film, a Springsteen album, or through visual design. The attention to detail behind the scenes is often what makes the experience memorable, and that’s something I try to bring into my work.
I value dedication, collaboration, and a willingness to keep learning. I’m very excited to grow as a designer, expand my skillset and meet more people in the web world along the way!
